What We Practice

What is prophecy?
“Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy; but everyone who prophesies speaks to men for the strengthening encouragement and comfort.” (1 Corinthians 14:1, 3)

Why do we stand to sing?
“…We will stand in your presence before this temple that bears your Name and will cry out to you in our distress, and you will hear us and save us… then some Levites from the Kohathites and Korathites stood up and praised the Lord, the God of Israel, with very loud voice.” (2 Chronicles 20:9, 19)

Why do we lift our hands?
“I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.” (Psalm 63:4) “Lift up you hands in the sanctuary and praise the Lord.” (Psalm 134:2) “I spread out my hands to you; my soul thirsts for you like a parched land.” (Psalm 143:6)

Why do we allow the gifts of the Spirit to operate within the church?
The gifts were given by the Holy Spirit to operate within the Church body for the purpose of edification. “I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification…Even so you, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, let it be for the edification of the church that you seek to excel…How is it then, brethren? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.” (1 Corinthians 14:5 , 12, 26)

Why does the whole church pray at once for specific needs?
“When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. ‘Sovereign Lord,’ they said, ‘you made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and everything in them’.” (Acts 4:24)

Why do we have audible praise unto God?
“Shout with joy to God…” (Psalm 66:1) “…Let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.” (Psalm 95:1) “Shout for the joy of the Lord…shout for joy before the Lord, the King.” (Psalm 98:4, 6) “Shout for joy to the Lord…” (Psalm 100:1)

Why do we pray for the sick?
“Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up.” (James 5:14-15).
